SSA Guidelines on Strengthening Libraries in Schools, TEIs, Strengthen School, College libraries for improvement of understudies information, Self-learning capacity. Make the libraries utilitarian successfully in Schools and Teacher Education Institutions. DSE Telangana, Rc.No.38,Dated: 01.07.2016, Sub: SCERT, Telangana, Hyderabad – Strengthening of libraries in Schools and Teacher Education Institutions in the State and making them functional successfully – Guidelines gave – Reg.

Every one of the District Educational Officers, Project Officers of SSA and the Principals of DIETs, CTEs, and IASEs in the State are educated that the Department has chosen to fortify the school and school libraries for the improvement of understudies information and to foster the capacity of self-learning. The school/school library assumes a significant part in creating quality instruction. The library as a learning asset focus is a basic piece of the school.

Hence, they are mentioned to offer their own consideration and follow the rules and make the libraries practical adequately in Schools and Teacher Education Institutions. Further, DEOs and POs of SSA are mentioned to give fundamental directions to all Headmasters of Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools alongside the rules.

Rules for making libraries useful "Library as a learning asset focus" School/organization is a door to information and assumes a significant part in developing a Love for perusing. The school library is vital to this instructive cycle. Empowered at the right age, the kids make certain to foster an affection for books. "Catch em Young" is subsequently the maxim of the school libraries.

 

Strengthening School & College Libraries.

As per IFLA/UNESCO School Library Manifesto, "the school library gives data and thoughts that are key to working effectively in the present data and information based society. The school library furnishes understudies with long lasting mastering abilities and fosters the creative mind empowering them to live as capable residents".

1. Assigning one Teacher/Lecturer as In-control Librarian for a time of one year. 

2. Comprise class-wise Library Committees

a. With five (5) understudies of the concerned class.

b. Class Teacher should lead the board of trustees. 

c. In-control Librarian should direct survey gatherings with Class Library Committees and Class Teacher on month to month premise. 

3. Establish School Library Committee (SLC)

a. Top of the establishment go about as Chairman of the School Library Committee. 

b. In-control Librarian go about as Secretary for School Library Committee. 

c. SMC Chairman is likewise a Member of the School Library Committee. 

d. Class Teacher one from each part/class are Members.

e. Understudy delegates one from area/class 


4. Give separate space to library and in case it is beyond the realm of imagination, give an office in the staff room or lab room in the foundation. 

5. The library ought to be kept open in the school/school hours (10.00 AM to 04.00 PM]

Guidelines for Strengthening School & College Libraries.

7. Upkeep of Library Records

a. Buy Register

b. Stock Register

c. Separate Register for gave books, diaries, periodicals, week by week, month to month, and so on

d. Issue Register for understudies (class-wise) and Teachers independently.

e. Every day Attendance Register (Gate Register).

f. Book Review Registers for dialects and different subjects independently by the subject Register for the utilization of CCE.

g. Library Activity Register-To record every one of the exercises that are taken from the library. Ex: courses, discusses, oration contests, and so forth

8. Distribution of one period for library for each class each week (Reading and referring to).

9. Moving toward MLCs, MLAs, MPs people group, NGOs, humanitarians and so on for securing furniture, books, diaries, periodicals, week by week, month to month magazines and so forth

10. Naming the library on the name of the individual who gives Rs.2.00 lakhs or more for library advancement.

11. Direct of Library Week just before S.R. Ranganathan's Birthday on twelfth August onwards. A different timetable will be given.

12. Assortment of yesterday/last week papers, books, magazines, and so forth from contributors in the region by the understudies for creating instructive collections and furthermore creating TLM. 

13. Use of Library Book Banks from public libraries-by the Library Committee.

14. Use the 'Read to Room' program for the library.

15. Utilized Textbooks gathered from active understudies will be protected in the library-HM/Principal.
